To find out what your car is worth, look to see what other similar sellers are pricing their car at. Then maybe check out some second hand car buyer's guides.
Tidy your car inside and make sure it smells fresh. On the outside, a clean and polished car, gives a good first impression.
When writing your description, mention the good points and anything important that the buyer should know about, don't write long sentences or make up details that aren't true.
Make sure that you are going to be available to show viewers around your car should you get any enquiries.
If you are accepting cash get someone to help you count and check the notes are genuine before handing over the keys. If you receive a cheque either have the bank clear it on the day(the banks usually charge a fee for this) or wait until the cheque clears. Never hand over the keys or documents until you are satisfied the payment is safe in your hands or bank!
If you have any MOT certificates or receipts for work done, it is a good idea to have them ready to show to the potential buyer. It shows that you have looked after your car.
If the potential buyer asks to test drive your car make sure they are insured to do so, otherwise you will have to test drive it for them.
Never let someone test drive your car on their own, you should always accompany them.
